With freshly cooked meals, as much tea, coffee and biscuits as needed and always a friendly ear close by, it is highly rewarding for us at Sanctus to see people going away satisfied and more relaxed, ready for the next challenge.
Food, being a basic necessity, is the foundation in building relationships with our service users. Our hope is to provide a stepping-stone for service users to move forwards positively in their lives.
Sanctus is a small but vital charity established in the bitter winter of 2011. Sanctus feeds the growing number of homeless, hungry and vulnerable individuals in our city. We run a free café offering breakfast, hot and cold drinks, snacks and a cooked homemade lunch. We are also able to help by offering accommodation to some of our service users, as well as 1:1 support/advice, and a range of enrichment activities including training, a Book Club, Music Club and Allotment Project.
Our current daily service users are up to 85 a day and we forecast this number to reach 100 a day in the next coming winter months.
